Hello!

I’m Sarah Burden, Marketing Consultant and the founder of Sarah Burden Media. I started my business on the 4th of May,2021. Yes, it’s Star Wars Day, but that’s as far as it goes. I have no love of sci-fi but a great way to remember the date. Before this, I spent 23 years working in the non-profit sector, eventually landing in a Marketing & Communications Manager role. These days, I’ve swapped the non-profit world for the world of a marketing consultant. I get to work with a wide range of clients who each keep me on my toes in the best way possible. I still get to work with some charities as well!

From typing in legal to finding my passion as a marketing consultant

My love for marketing and comms didn’t just appear out of nowhere; it’s been with me since I was young. In college, when I studied communications and secretarial studies. Back then I was lacking in confidence so I decided to head down the secretarial and PA route. This decision led me to the legal field, where I spent a decade as a secretary and then PA to one of the firms senior partners. It did wonders for my typing speed.I can still bash out 100 words a minute, which is a handy thing when writing copy.

A Bump in the road (literally) that changed everything

In August 1996, life decided to throw me a curveball in the form of a car accident. Thanks to the local Air Ambulance (which I didn’t even know existed until that day), I made it through with multiple broken bones. Once I was back on my feet, I found myself working for that very charity. What started as a way to give back turned into a 23-year career filled with more roles than I can count. From reception and admin, fundraising and communications, to marketing and event management. Along the way, I also picked up a diploma in communications and a Level 6 qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). I figured, why not? It all enabled me to do what I was doing even better. The photo shows me at work, accepting a special fundraising gift from The Red Arrows.

Taking the leap: the birth of Sarah Burden Media

After 23 years in the non profit world, I decided it was time to try something new. In May 2021, Sarah Burden Media was born. I’ve always loved variety in my work, and now I get to enjoy it every day. That could be writing, designing, or sprucing up a website. I’m all about getting the job done, whatever it may be. I’m happiest when I’m working on something that lets me be creative.

Always learning, always growing as a marketing consultant

I’m a firm believer that you never stop learning. The digital world is always changing, and I make sure to keep up. Whether it’s social media, website platforms, or just a new trick I pick up along the way, I’m always looking for ways to improve what I do.

I also think it’s great to share this knowledge, which is why I set up my resources page. New things will be regularly added to this page so please do check back regularly.

A bit of this, a bit of that

While most of my time is spent on Sarah Burden Media, I also lend a hand with my partner David’s business, Moors and More Tours’. I help out with the marketing and communications side of things, making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me indulging in some kind of craft project. I’m one of those people who loves to make things—whether it’s knitting, painting, or something else entirely, I’m happiest when I’m creating.
So that’s me in a nutshell. No grand titles or flashy headlines—just a down-to-earth media specialist who loves what she does. The photo shows part of a knitted blanket that I made as a Christmas present.

If you’re looking for someone to help bring your ideas to life, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s see what magic we can create together!
