I started Sarah Burden Media on the 4th of May 2021. Prior to that, I had spent 23 years working in the non profit/charity field, latterly as Marketing & Communications Manager.
I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). These days I love the variety of working with a diverse range of clients, where each one is unique.
Why marketing?
My love of media came at an early age and at college, I took both communications and secretarial studies. I originally went on to use my secretarial skills and worked in the legal field for 10 years.
Working as a PA meant that my touch-typing speed increased to 100 words a minute, which is something that is particularly useful when writing copy.
A life-changing experience
After a car accident in August 1986, I was helped by the local Air Ambulance. I didn’t know the service even existed.
Having five fractures to my pelvis, it took me six months to recover well enough to go back to work. Just a year later I was working for the charity as part of a team of three.
Roll on 23 years, and up to February 2021 I was still working for the charity, having gained extensive skills not only in communications and marketing but also in event management.
As well as working full-time, I also studied and completed a diploma in communications with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), followed by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Level 6.
